Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 June 2026
NOVA — Break the Chain (“NOVA”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile application that helps people break free from pornography and rebuild healthy habits. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data with care.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up — including with “Sign in with Google” — we receive your name and email address to create and secure your account.
- Content you create. Journal entries, check-ins, daily streaks, goals, reflections and other content you enter in the app.
- Messages to the AI mentor (Sentiel). The messages you send to our in-app mentor so it can generate a response.
- Notification tokens. A device push token so we can send the reminders you enable.
- Technical & diagnostic data. App version, device type, and crash / error reports used to keep the app stable.
2. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the app and your personal progress.
- To send the reminders and notifications you have turned on.
- To generate responses from the in-app AI mentor.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the app.
3. Service providers
We use trusted third-party processors that handle data on our behalf and only as needed to run the service:
- Supabase — authentication and database (data hosted in the EU).
- Google / Apple — sign-in and push notification delivery.
- OpenAI — processing messages sent to the AI mentor to generate replies.
- Sentry — anonymous crash and error reporting.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use your journal entries for advertising.
- We do not share your content with other users without your action.
5. Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data and content are removed from our systems, except where we must keep limited records to comply with the law.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account directly in the app, or contact us and we will help. If you are in the EU, you have rights under the GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
7. Children
NOVA is not directed to children. You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your country) to use the app.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with our processors using industry-standard safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date above.
